We have a dream for a women’s radio network for the Journey to Bulgaria and Beyond.

Sophia2010, Women & Wisdom wants to work with all who are connected to women’s radio programming. Women stories and women’s voices heard across the radio waves and on internet is a positive powerful force for change.  We want to co-create a women’s radio programming database that includes who, what, where, time and how to access.  By working together around the world we will create a database for people to access women’s radio programming found on various website including www.sophia2010.org 

This is a shared resource open for all to help co-create, maintain and help grow. 

Sophia 2010, Women and Wisdom will host a worldwide gathering in Sofia, Bulgaria, May 25-29, 2010.  Our dream is have all ears, eyes and hearts connected to Sophia, Women and Wisdom through radio, internet, TV, events, prayer and meditation before during and after this event.  

We need a volunteer to create and maintain a database for this project.  We need help in finding women’s radio programs and funding to support women in the media. 

Pakistan has their first radio program by and for women.  Let us help grow this trend.

 In Pakistan, where only three percent of journalists are women, Internews launched Meri Awaz Suno (Hear My Voice). In 2003, Internews built a state-of-the-art independent radio production facility in Islamabad where women journalists are trained in radio reporting and production. They then produce Meri Awaz Suno, the country’s first independent syndicated program that features women as both producers and subjects.

The radio show airs on 19 independent radio stations across the country, and focuses on issues such as politics, education and health. Before Internews training, most reporters working on Meri Awaz Suno had little experience working in radio or journalism. Now they are leaders – the first women in Pakistan to work as independent broadcast journalists and serve as role models for young women.  http://www.internews.org/global/gender/default.shtm
