The unimaginable Gulf Oil Spill has left us all with an intense combination of emotions, from sadness to anger to helplessness. How could this happen? And after the leak has been plugged, what can we do as individuals to help fix this horrific environmental disaster?

Musical duo Wilderland answers the call by releasing their new song “Fragile Day” with 100% of all proceeds benefiting the habitat affected by this tragedy.

Click here to watch the Fragile Day video and download the song

Heralding from the mountains of Ashland, Oregon, Wilderland features singer-songwriters Scott Blum and Kat Sanchez. A veteran from the music industry, Blum (who’s credits include multimedia production for Peter Gabriel, Soundgarden and many others) balances the exquisite vocal stylings of Sanchez who had been a member of a wide range of local bands most of her life.

After writing several original songs, the musicians began collaborating with renowned underground DJ and multi-instrumentalist Rara Avis (Desert Dwellers, Shaman’s Dream) to realize their musical vision. It was during these studio sessions that the Gulf Oil Spill tragedy happened which deeply affected all involved in the project. Ironically, the song “Fragile Day” was being worked on at that very moment, and when explaining the song’s lyrics to Avis, Blum realized that a powerful synchronicity was afoot. The song included the lyric “Fish are dimming while they’re swimming / Blackened ocean of foam” which, although written nearly two years prior, was about fish dying because of an oil spill. Credit is given to Blum’s wife Madisyn Taylor who suggested that “Fragile Day” be released immediately with all proceeds benefiting the habitat affected by the oil spill.

Also touched by the environmental tragedy, music industry superstars Toby Wright (Grammy award winning producer of Alice in Chains, Korn, 3 Doors Down, etc.) and Stephen Marcussen (mastering engineer for the Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Seal, Cher, Paul McCartney, etc.) both contributed their expertise to this worthwhile project.

You can download two versions of “Fragile Day” by Wilderland with 100% of the proceeds donated to three important charities helping the habitat affected by the Gulf Oil Spill Tragedy. These organizations include The Gulf Restoration Network, EarthShare and the WILD Foundation.

Visit www.FragileDay.com to watch the emotionally powerful video and download the song to support this worthy cause.

Ponder this. Watch this fascinating talk visually unfold before you through witty and beautiful illustration. Dan Pink makes the case that there are hidden truths behind what really motivates us, something we have always known as women. Namely that it’s not the age-old motivators of money and power that drives us, but our desire for autonomy, mastery, and purpose.

Then we must ask how best to build (or re-build) the bridge to have a healthier relationship with money and embrace it as one way to fuel and empower our autonomy, innate strengths, and purpose.

But are we awake enough? Prepare to feel deeply what you already know, we are One and profoundly connected.

You are about to witness on the video below 185 voices. 243 tracks. 12 countries. A choir unlike any other. What started as a simple social media experiment, has become a poetic metaphor of our shared humanity and the power of connection.

Acclaimed composer and conductor Eric Whitacre offered the sheet music of his original composition, “Lux Aurumque”, as a free download and invited singers to submit a video of themselves performing one part (soprano, alto, tenor, or bass). These rather ordinary videos of solo performances were then pieced together to form a choir of singers who have never met each other…but have unwittingly created music in perfect harmony together.

After viewing this brilliant masterpiece, envision the power of women connecting in leadership, in one harmonious voice, even though we are scattered all over the world. Now let’s talk about how to harness this knowing with technology to have our voice heard, respected, embraced, and applied to be the change we are called to be.

Create a quiet place and savor this, then connect with us at Circle Connections with how we can carry this idea forward!

At Circle Connections and through our Sophia Leadership Program, we sense the importance of honoring young women as our future leaders and know the importance of mutually and reciprocally sharing our insights about creating a New Earth.

The value of listening to children, exchanging ideas, and embracing them as our teachers, too, is confirmed by this inspiring video clip.

We posted this video awhile back on our Circle Connections blog,

Eve Ensler: Embrace your inner girl

… however I took the time to watched it again this morning after receiving a link to it in an email from a dear friend.

Perhaps it should become a morning meditation for all women until we are fully awake without dozing or pulling the covers over our heads, or because we make ourselves too busy to allow ourselves to feel it and make it worth our time to know what we know.

The awakening theme is alive and expanding thanks to women like Marianne Williamson at the Sister Giant event and the crusade of women like Eve Ensler. Be reminded…

There is a groundswell of awakening, and it’s nurturing is up to us. As we connect with our ‘girl cell’ we cannot comfortably go back to sleep. As we dare to step back into our core strength each of us will know how, and that we must actualize our calling.

Emotions are messy. We are often grumpy when first awakened. Having been denied or made wrong to have emotions or be intuitive, often our emotions burst forth in a violent manner. After all, we contain a cellular memory of being burned at the stake for being healers and wise women.

However we must realize that victims become perpetrators. We are now called to let our awakening to be messy and then move beyond that awkwardness to transform our emotion and anger to intuition and grace. We are called to move from being egocentric and pricklly to insightful and courageous. We are called now to hone our capacity to direct our words and emotions in a skilled and potent way to be the change we are called to be. There is great power and reassurance that comes from holding hands at the well, walking this path in the good company of other conscious women and those who love us.

The internet has become a place like the well where women connect to share our experiences. Women are reclaiming the internet as a feminine model and as their place of gathering to share our wisdom stories. As at the well, the internet has become a sharing place for us to do our grassroots work and the means for spreading the word.

Today at the ‘well’ that lives in my inbox, this message was passed along to be by a dear friend as it was shared with her by a dear friend of hers… and this is how women do it…

“While I was in Kenya I spent the morning with Agnes Pareiyo (mentioned in Eve’s T.E.D. talk) and the girls at her house. In this very powerful video Eve Ensler talks about “the girl cell”, and also about the work of Agnes.

I think it is a presentation that no one – male or female – should miss hearing. I have attached a picture of a few of the girls I spent time with, and 2 of their caregivers, and the building which Eve funded there.”

– Su

We are emotional creatures, powerful beyond all measure, blessed with a ‘girl cell’ that aches to be set free. May we all go there, to that core that lives in each of us. May it no longer be silenced, by others or by our own doing.

Namaste,

Rhonda
